Christmas 2015

Firstly merry Christmas and a happy new year form Sewell’s science.

Now on to the sciencier topic. Insta snow is a polymer that is similar but not the same as the polymer that is in baby’s nappies. This is because they both have the property that they absorb water (H2O).

A polymer is a very large molecule made when many smaller molecules join together, end-to-end. The smaller molecules are called monomers. In general: lots of monomer molecules form a polymer molecule. An example of this is PVC made from several Chloroethene monomers.
