Firstly this is a science teachers demo only don’t try this at home or even at a friend’s home.

 

This demonstration is used to show chain reaction, as one particle of the powder caches fire it will catch the next and the next and so on. 

 

This is an example of a chain reaction. A chain reaction is a reaction in which one action triggers the next.

 

It is a chain reaction that occurs in a nuclear power station. However it happens in a controlled way but that is why if something goes wrong it can be a big problem.

 

The demo also shows that to have a fire there needs to be enough oxygen.
